Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because I love sweets, making costumes and dressing up is a guilty pleasure, and the decorating possibilities are endless. So naturally, I decided to go big for 2013.
The costume was easy, I saw a photo of Lauren Conrad dressed as Mary Poppins and I was sold. I bought a bowler hat and decorated it with ribbon and flowers, made a red bow-tie, bought an umbrella, pulled a white blouse and black skirt from my closet, and the costume was ready. It was pretty darn cute if I say so myself.
Then for the party - I saw adorable appetizer ideas on pinterest including cutie pumpkins, banana ghosts, mummy dogs, and witch brooms. While these were rather time intensive to create, they were tasty and festive.
Glitter always seems to make its way into my design, so glitter-rimmed tea lights, gold glitter skulls, and glitter-dipped candles were all part of the spread. After finding a perfect pad of scrapbook paper, a “trick or treat” sign emerged, in addition to awesome drink and food signs. Oh, and of course some dry ice.
And last, but certainly not least - cocktails. The Ghoul’s Punch was a toxic green color and was a complete hit, and of course the Bloody Shirley’s were very appropriate, topped off with grenadine in a syringe.
See for yourself :)
